Knowledgeable, Caring, Attentive Service - Worth the Premium
If you are a local that is tired of waiting around for help (relevant or otherwise) while shopping at at your nearest orange or blue/white box DIY retailers, try Tarzian. Interacting with its professionals reveals solid knowledge of home DIY and the staff from floor to register seem to have a genuine appreciation for your home aspirations, needs and dilemmas. Prices are high relative to those big boys, but the premium is warranted.

Prepare to be Ignored
All eyes seem to dart away as I enter the store. The staff is engaged in conversation and never seems to want to see me. Worse, they can't seem to stop conversing to even let me pass down the aisle. As I try to squeeze between them they strain to maintain eye contact with each other, but can't be bothered to make room to let me pass. Never mind they don't care what I may want.
I once had to degrade myself to ask a question. I was told to hang on while they looked over an Ebay page with some auto parts on which one was bidding.

Prepare to be Ignored
All eyes seem to dart away as I enter the store. The staff is engaged in conversation and never seems to want to see me. Worse, they can't seem to stop conversing to even let me pass down the aisle. As I try to squeeze between them they strain to maintain eye contact with each other, but can't be bothered to make room to let me pass. Never mind they don't care what I may want. Great hardware store. by Vincent C. at InsiderPages
Tarzian True-Value Hardware is a great place to go to. Instead of walking to Home Depot or Lowes to get your stuff you can get the same stuff at the same stuff locally at this store. They are nice and if you need anything, they would kindly help you with the entire question you have. They always have employee working to get you what you need. They have a large collection of all home supplies.

Slopeware
I've had mixed experiences here. If you can find the staff, they're usually quite helpful and willing to locate whatever you need. But it's not always easy to catch their attention, and a contractor I recommended this place to had such a frustrating time purchasing paint, he went elsewhere. Good basic stock, though, and the prices are decent. So it's probably worth it to support a local business that's a step up from the grungy storefronts further up the number-streets.
